So my wife and I ventured almost two hours to the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood New Jersey last night to see the legendary Gregg Allman perform and I must tell you that Mr. Allman still has a lot of gas in the tank at the age of 63 and did not disappoint! What is old becomes new again as much to my suprise the crowd was represented by young and old with everyone smiling and having a great time. Performing songs like Whipping Post, Sweet Melissa, Midnight Rider, I'm No Angel and of course songs from his new album "Low Country Blues" had the crowd singing along with songs that will live forever. But on this special night for this blogger was a chance to see a childhood friend who has achieved "Rock Star Status" with his photography of the world of music, act out his other love, playing with the Tangiers Blues Band. The crowd shuffled in just like any other concert as most were still outside the room waiting to see Gregg Allman as the opening band played , but I sat nine rows from the stage and witnessed this kid from Toms River N.J. who grew up like many in TR... playing soccer, hanging at the beach, cruising the boards....well you know what I mean... tearing it up on stage with his harmonica playing and vocals. As the night progressed and Gregg Allman was blowing away the crowd, low and behold he calls onto the stage to jam none other than my friend Danny Clinch. So as I sat there and witnessed this first hand I could not help but reminisce about the friendship we forged as young men and must tell you that he has not changed one bit. He is still that same ole down-to-earth guy he was years ago. With a bustling schedule Danny may be in Aruba shooting the Police or maybe helping out with his son's soccer team and a week later filming Pearl Jam in London there's one thing for certain he sure loves jamming on that stage and lets it loose! Well all I can say is if you have an oppurtunity to see Gregg Allman or The Tangiers Blues Band perform don't hesitate to do so. Danny Clinch is a true Jersey Shore Treasure.
