TOMS RIVER NJ - The little auto repair shop on the corner of Coolidge Avenue & Route 37 East is shutdown and now a crime scene...you know, the one right across from Krauszer's that used to have Gulf Gas. The story is being reported worldwide and has thrust these slick cats to notoriety and has prompted the Prosecutor's Office to check it out after way too many complaints of cars being towed after the storm and then the owners being charged exorbitant fees to retrieve them. What the heck is going on here?
The Ocean County Prosecutor's office is asking for the public's help in its fact-finding investigation of a Toms River towing company, said county officials.
Ding Ding Ding...So if you had your car towed from Seaside Heights by APK, please contact the OCP!!! Let this be a message to the scammer out there that these practices will not be tolerated. The OCP has stated:
“The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether or not there has been any criminal wrongdoing associated with the business practices of this entity," said Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford. "We are collecting facts and information and will not comment publicly on this until our investigation is completed."
The prosecutor's office asks that anyone with information on the company, or anyone who received a bill from it related to services in Seaside Heights, to contact detectives James Conroy or Mark Malinowski at (732) 929-2027
