Miller Air Park only reached 46 degrees today while Atlantic City Int'l reached 55! This was definitely a case of sun vs. no sun and precip vs. no precip. The further south you went in NJ today there was longer times
of sunshine as it took a while for the clouds from the coastal low to
pivot into places down in Atlantic and Cape May counties. Up in Monmouth
and Ocean counties it was sunny until 9:30am...and then it started to
sleet and graupel around 10am! With the temp holding into the mid 40s
all day. And the winds were howling all day as well-some times they were
gusting in excess of 35mph on the mainland to 50mph recorded at Seaside Heights! So for most of the day it felt like temps
were into the lower 30s, just like December.
As I mentioned before, this was all associated with a retrograding low pressure system in New
England that moved its way south. It will finally push east tonight and
for Tuesday it will still influence our weather with some clouds and the
wind, but no more rain as the bulk of the rain will have pivoted
offshore and high pressure starts to nudge in from the west.

So obviously with more sunshine the temps will be pushed up into the mid to upper 50s. And then the high pressure pushes a bit south and pumps in
some southerly winds for us by mid week and we will jump into the lower
60s for highs....and possibly 70 by the weekend?

Stay tuned.....and by the way, the next chance of rain by the earliest will be at the start of the new week.
