TOMS RIVER — Michael J. Ritacco sold back 250 sick days between 2002 and 2007 for a total of $219,517. What is wrong with this policy?
Ritacco's last contract, his salary was about $234,000 a year, the sick-leave payout was capped to $15,000. Still what were they thinking to allow such behavior? The cap on payouts for unused sick time was imposed by state law.
Ritacco was permitted to cash in 50 sick days each year between 2002 and 2007 as part of his contract, Why approve something like this - what are they thinking? William Doering, the regional schools business administrator, said in an e-mail. Each year, Ritacco cashed in the full amount for at least $41,000. Gee why does'nt that suprise everyone!
And regional school board President Linda Garvey announced that a nationwide search is being conducted to fill the superintendent's job. Which we suppose THEY will approve??????
